Our
Story

Coloring Kali's World - The Foundation

About the Foundation

Coloring Kali’s World Foundation

Founded by Heather Ella Rise in loving memory of my daughter, Kali Ashley.

I am Heather Ella Rise, and I am Kali Ashley’s mom.

My 11-year-old daughter Kali was full of light—her favorite color was purple, she loved to draw, dream big, and make everything brighter. But severe asthma stole her breath too soon. In 2025, during a court-ordered visitation, she suffered a fatal asthma attack.

Kali’s death was preventable. That unbearable truth became my purpose.

So I founded Coloring Kali’s World Foundation to make sure no other child pays the price for ignored medical needs, and no family feels abandoned in family court.

Our Mission

With the slogan “No Family Left Behind: Support, Scholarships, and Justice,” we are building a global foundation that:

- Provides real support for families facing family court challenges: mediation, counseling, reunification therapy, financial assistance, parenting classes, legal aid, document preparation, childcare during hearings, transportation help, training, and workshops.

- Raises asthma awareness and teaches children about chronic conditions through free digital coloring books and physical copies sold at cost—turning education into joy, just like Kali loved.

- Award scholarships to students entering the medical field, especially those from families affected by court battles or chronic illness, so future healers can prevent tragedies like ours.

- Advocates fiercely so every family has representation, judges follow the law, and accountability is real when medical evidence is dismissed or rights are violated.

- Champions Kali’s Law —model legislation requiring courts to give substantial deference to treating physicians, mandate emergency medical plans and caregiver training, recognize medically vulnerable children with trauma-informed protections, collect data for improvement, and hold judges accountable for willful disregard.

Our Global Commitment

Kali’s story has already reached hearts across the world. We are going global from the beginning—adapting our resources to different countries’ laws, partnering with international organizations, translating materials, offering virtual support, and building coalitions so families everywhere can access help. No borders will stop us from protecting children and supporting parents.

This foundation is my promise to Kali:

Your purple light will keep shining.

Your name will keep saving lives.

And we will color the world safer, kinder, and full of hope.

With all my love and unbreakable determination,

Heather Ella Rise

Coloring Kali's World - The Foundation- Across the Globe

Global Reach: Bringing Coloring Kali’s World to Every Nation

At Coloring Kali’s World Foundation, we believe no child should suffer because of ignored medical needs, unfair family courts, or lack of support—no matter where they live. Kali’s story has already crossed borders through shared grief, petitions, and media. Now we are taking action worldwide.

Our global vision is to adapt and expand every part of our mission so families in other countries and nations can access the same hope, resources, and protection we are building here.

What We Will Do Globally:

- Support Families in Family Court Battles Worldwide

We will partner with local NGOs, child rights organizations, and legal aid groups in countries across Europe, Asia, Africa, Latin America, Australia, and beyond to provide adapted versions of our core services: mediation, counseling, reunification support, financial assistance for court costs, parenting classes, legal guidance, document help, childcare during hearings, and transportation aid. Virtual counseling and workshops will be available in multiple languages via online platforms, so distance and borders never stop help from reaching families.

- Raise Asthma Awareness and Educate Children Everywhere

Kali’s obituary-inspired coloring book will be translated into major languages and distributed freely as digital PDFs worldwide, with physical copies made available at cost through local partners and printing networks. We will collaborate with international health organizations (like WHO affiliates and national asthma foundations) to run awareness campaigns, school programs, and online events teaching children how to recognize triggers, use inhalers, and live fully with chronic conditions.

- Offer Scholarships Internationally

Our scholarships for students entering the medical field will be open to applicants from any country, with priority for those from families affected by custody disputes or chronic illness. We will partner with global scholarship administrators and universities to ensure fair selection and support recipients in their commitment to community service—creating a worldwide network of compassionate healers inspired by Kali.

- Advocate for Kali’s Law and Similar Protections Globally

Kali’s Law will serve as a model that inspires reform in other nations. We will work with international human rights bodies (UN Committee on the Rights of the Child, regional child rights coalitions) to adapt the law’s core principles—mandatory emergency medical plans, deference to physicians, caregiver training, trauma-informed protections, and judicial accountability—to fit each country’s legal system. We will submit recommendations, join global campaigns, and support local advocates pushing for stronger child safeguards in family and custody laws.

- Build a Worldwide Network

We will create virtual chapters, online communities, and partnerships in multiple countries so families can connect, share stories, and access localized resources. Through multilingual content, virtual summits, and coalition-building, we will ensure no parent feels alone—whether in a U.S. courtroom or halfway across the world.

Kali’s purple light is not confined to one place.

Her legacy is global.

We are going everywhere to make sure every child can breathe freely, every family has support, and every court hears the warnings that save lives.
